The ME extension is given to files used by various applications. From a technical point of view, it is usually a plain text file containing technical information about the application it was bundled with. It can also store a quick guide for the program, information about the license or the program's author. You can view it with any text editor.

ME files are often called read.me , although in the case of Polish applications the names of the readme.txt type are also used.
