SML is a multimedia presentation file created using XML (Extended Markup Language). SML file doesn’t store all the presentation data, but only text and references to multimedia files (audio, video, graphics).

SML file also defines how presentation will be displayed (size settings, slide timing, animations, streaming settings, etc.). Instead of SML extension, a SMIL extension is commonly used for this type of file.
