VF file format is used to store project created with MAGIX Vegas Movie Studio video editing software. File doesn’t contain any source material in form of video or audio data but references to those data, and timeline, effects and transitions data. Vegas Movie studio was created by Sony and later acquired by MAGIX.

MAGIX Vegas Movie Studio is a commercially available and easy to use software offering many complex editing tools. Platinum version fully supports surround sound editing. VF files can be exported to many video file formats and saved to DVD given user has access to proper version of the software. Project archives are stored as VF files.
