AVF is an extension given to files related to streaming video material. These are materials encoded in MPEG-2 or AVR standard and delivered to end devices by means of an MPEG transport stream. Such video content is transmitted using DVB-T digital transmission (digital terrestrial television).

The AVF file itself does not contain video content, but is used to store any information about the uploaded material. This is called metadata.
