Files with the .CDF-MS extension contain properties – namely parameters such as app name, version, description, implementation options, and relations needed to launch the Windows system app using the ClickOnce technology. CDF-MS files are compiled versions of MANIFEST files, which makes the use, processing, and analysis of the data they contain quicker.
The ClickOnce technology, developed by Microsoft, uses these supporting CDF-MS files to launch Windows software simply by having the user click on a certain link located on a webpage. Manually modifying or deleting CDF-MS files may therefore decrease the stability of the ClickOnce tool.
