VFO filename extension is very similar to the popular VOB extension, however, it is seldom used. VFO files can be found on DVD discs as they are used to store video data.

Upon changing VFO file’s extension to VOB, it can be opened using a multimedia players, for example, VLC Media Player. VFO format is less used today as high-resolution video formats are gaining popularity at the expense of SD resolution formats such as VFO. VFO files can also be opened with a media player by changing filename extension to MPG or MPEG.
