ADC files store raster images as four-bit color bitmaps. ADC files are used by various GIS software. ADC format is rarely used and is considered a legacy format -- newer and more robust formats are used instead.

ADC format maps may not be compatible with newer versions of software that uses Graphic Information Systems standard. In such cases, older version of given software must be installed as no ADC converter tool exists.
