APT is an extension characteristic of files which store program code written in the easy markup language APT (Almost Plain Text). Despite its simplicity, this language offers great possibilities of formatting documents. APT files can be converted into HTML, PDF, RTF or PostScript documents.

Technically, APT is a plain text file that can be opened and modified with any text editor. More often, however, special code editors are used for this.
