DJV is a compressed bitmap image format. DJV files are used to store digital graphic materials, the source of which are scans of text documents or images. It is characterized by high resolution. They are used for distribution via the Internet as high-quality materials, for example in the form of books. The DjVu format is used to compress these materials.

Such files are more commonly assigned the DJVU extension, and this format is used in the Million Book Project and One Laptop per Child.
