JAD is a file format dedicated to mobile devices that support Java ME (Micro Edition) virtual machine. JAD files were commonly used by game developers to export games and various applications (messengers, notebooks, etc.) to older cell phones.

JAD file stores so called MIDlet, a typer of lightweight Java application. Compressed JAD files were save as files with JAR extension. Java ME games and applications are now obsolete as the market is now dominated by Android and iOS systems that used their own native solutions for applications.
