Files with the .LIC format are license files containing information about program registration or information about network server configuration. The files are used when launching registered programs for the purposes of approving the license – as such, they need to be installed or available locally on the machine that hosts the relevant program.

Many types of programs utilize LIC files: the Autodesk app is a special case, as it uses LIC files for network configuration using Network License Manager software.
