Files with the .PES extension, part of the computer assisted manufacturing standard, abbreviated as CAM, contains instructions for embroidery machines, as well as operational instructions, using the codes start, stop, trim, and project palette color.

PES files are created using the PE-Design software, usually by changing a vector project image to PES code, which is dedicated to embroidery machines made by Brother, however the standard is also supported by home-use machines, such as Babylock and Bernina.
