File with an .SV$ extension contains an automatically generated up-to-date backup copy of a currently developed project in DWG format. It is used in the AutoCAD 2D and #D software. It saves a complete project preventing its loss in case of software or hardware malfunction.

Content of a .SV$ file can be opened by changing its extension into DWG. If AutoCAD software is properly closed, the .SV$ files are deleted automatically, unlike the manually created BAK backup files.
