Files with the .UTF8 extension contain text written using UTF-8 encoding – short for 8-bit Unicode Transformation Format. The format is backward compatible with ASCII code.

The language and character set used in UTF8 files can be very wide, and encompass both basic English, other European languages, as well as Asian language characters.
