XESC is a container file for storing captured screen video and audio data used by Expression Encoder Screen Capture applications available as a part of Microsoft Expression Studio suite.

Screen capture technology allows recording various educational materials, for example guides that present step by step actions performed by the author on their screen. XECS file format is supported by various media players, though some require appropriate audio and video codecs to be installed in the system.
